Queen Anne’s lace flower plant's scientific name is Daucus Carota Linn. var. sativa and belongs to the family of Umbelliferae or Apiaceae.

 Queen Anne’s lace flower plant can be cultivated all across Europe, Africa and is naturalized in America. It is also cultivated in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh for its fleshy taproots which are eaten raw or cooked.

Other Common Names of Queen Anne’s Lace Flowers

Queen Anne’s lace flower is also called Bees Nest plant as it attracts a lot of bees due to the pollen grains in them.

When the flowers have fully bloomed and grow a little older, the flower takes the shape of umbrella with concave shape and so, it is also called as Bird’s Nest Plant as it resembles a bird’s nest.

 Bishop’s flower, Hill trot, lace flower, and wild carrot are the other names of Queen Anne's lace flower.

The legendary story of Queen Anne’s lace flower is that Queen Anne of Denmark or England was a very skilled lace maker.

So, she threw down a challenge to all to compete with her in lacemaking. She was confident nobody could make flower lace embroidery better than her. While she was making Queen Anne's flower lace, the needle pricked her finger. A drop of blood fell into the middle of the flower in the lace, and hence, that’s how the purple shade at the middle of the Queen Anne’s flower shows the reflection and thus the flower got its name.

No. Though Queen Anne’s lace flower grows on roads and streets and is easy to grow, they are sometimes treated as a weed. In fact, they aren’t weed. In fact, they are edible and have immense medicinal value.

Queen Anne’s lace flowers are biennial plants which means it takes those two years to be grown and bloom into a flower and produce fruit. As the flower grows older it takes the shape of concave and looks like a nest and hence also called a bird’s nest plant.
